We leave the park today and head to Virginia and Nevada City in Montana. These two towns are what remains of the gold rush in Montana.
The view of the mountains and valleys while driving along US 287 to the towns, the snow-covered mountains in June, and the sunlight hitting the valley.

Virginia City has Old West buildings and a few places to eat. You can also go on a stagecoach ride and sit on the top. It’s a nice 30-ish-minute ride with a pause to discuss the history of the town and Montana.

You can take the small train to Nevada City to view the old mining site and pan for gold from here.

Back when we had fewer states in the United States of America.

Along the way, we stopped at an NPS station at Hebgen Lake; they told us to return to the dam during sunset as the mountain goats stayed close to the dam. The baby goats weren’t old enough to climb to the top yet.
