Purple flowers

I was around the Whitehorse pass in Candana, while I was on an Alsakan trip, and saw these delicate purple flowers and had to get down low to take them in.   Unseen in this photo is the pond this small stream feed into and the big old Mountains behind them.   I’m always amazed at plants that can grow in such a hostile environment, it was growing on a rock next to some freezing cold water.

Fun Fact Alaska is the Northernmost, Westernmost, and Easternmost state in the US.  The Aleutian islands chain crosses the international dateline so technically correct and a great question for trivia quizzes.
